Gents. Hope all is well. I am working on Randy’s punishment to me of the 1/35 CH-54 Tarhee helo along with 2 figures-each with a dragon! I visited Frontline [Sept 19th] on my way to VMI. Good news for us-he is giving our club a increased discount on in-store and online orders! Woohoo. Email for for the code if you like.
Cheers,
-Chris
Gents; here are a couple of photographs of my workspace. It looks busy right? I am working on star destroyer as you can see. The work on these models takes an immense devotion of time – as in two to three years! I am hoping to have it ready for display/show in 2026. This is zen monastery building at its best!

Good day gents; about 10 or so of us took part in PennCon24. The venue was the Messiah University in Pennsylvania. It was a real nice campus – they even had a covered bridge on the campus that led out to their ball fields. The event took place inside the basketball court and seemed to go very well. I was able to sit with Mark Tutton at his vendor table several times and he did a pretty good amount of business. You go Mark!
The club, as usual, did very well Everyone who submitted a model(s) won something. Winning gold was (of course) Randy and Scott. Check this out – so did Ben and Donovan! Stud muffins all, Jeff, Tom S. Ross, John, and I won silvers and bronzes. A sister club put one of their tokens next to a figure of mine – a real nice gesture from a fellow club. Accordingly, Chad has been tasked to develop Raven tokens we can put on tables to let that modeler know our club appreciated their work!
A couple of guys (they know who they are!) came to the contest out of uniform! This displeases the benevolent dictator for life. So, let’s get another round of shirts ordered; I have 1 commit to a shirt, so need 5 more to get the minimum order in. All who do not have a shirt get on board and give me your size (FYI, the shirts are a solid quality – no need to order larger to allow for laundry shrink as these don’t)
Here are some photos of the event. See you all at the October meeting!

Hey gents. Here is a funny for us all. Everyone can relate…am I right!!!

Hey gents,
Y’all got some catching up to do!! “Build” 36 done. Just playing. Now this isn’t a typical build. It’s fake Legos. It’s the War Rig from Mad Max Fury Road. 3300 pieces, 25 hours and a lot of swearing. Because it’s not Legos, the pieces are randomly packaged. Took 3 hours just to separate everything. Anyway, model on folks!!
Jeff

Hey guys,,saw this and wanted to share it with the club since most of the members gravitate towards model cars rather than really cool stuff, like jets! I saw this on a vendor site I regularly buy from but you can probably get this from any vendor you like

Hey gents
Are you building??!! Here is a shot of my desk. There are 2 German soldiers and their bases about to be finished; a German POW bust that just needs a metal name placard to top it off; a dragon and its female warrior master; a mythical prophet of doom on his horse; and the “now-I-see-Randy is evil” for giving me the GIANT CH-54 helo to have ready by 2025 Nats (I swear I will get even with that guy!).
So let’s go you procrastinators and never-doers! Finish your builds and show them off at a meeting. We can’t have Jeff Muir outbuild us all!
-Chris

Good day gents. Many thanks to Scott for running the September meeting! The topic was on dioramas and Scott brought his Prohibition-era dio as a guide on how to lay out a good one that tells a story.
Several club members will be at PennCon 14 September. I hope those who have not attended a show but have wanted to see or participate in one will join us!
Three of our members participated at this year’s National Capitol Model Soldiers Society contest on 7 September. Randy took two golds for his Cobra helo and German missile tank and one silver for his dinosaur head (max Medal Man strikes again!). John took a bronze for his fantastic wrecker truck! I got two silvers for two of my figures. Once again the Raven-hood does well!
My thanks to John for taking my entries to the 7 September show since I was on travel to VMI to watch a military parade the Keydets put on (my son is a “rat”).

Notes from Chad:
The meeting was a bit less crowded than usual with only 10 of us on hand but it was still good to see the models that were brought. Gabriel’s tanks were all impressive, as was Ben’s vignette (comprised of parts from I believe he said 14 different kits!) Andre’s Tu-95 had me considering buying a Bear of my own at Dan’s after the meeting and Jeff’s car lot helped show us visually how little difference there was between 1/24 and 1/25.
I’m going to try to make it to PennCon, so I hope to see some of you guys there. Even if you don’t have models to bring it would still be a worthwhile trip!
-Chad

Well, build number 35 for the year is in the books. 1970 Mustang with a fuel quad 427 from Texas 3d customs. I really do like his stuff. Very well detailed. I wired and plumbed it. Made the headers out of solder, small piece of aluminum tubing and some shrink wrap. Wheels and tires are from a 2n1 1970 Buick GSX. Not your typical paint scheme, but I like it.
